she runs. bare feet pounding hard against the packed snow. her heart beats & her long blonde braid flaps against her back. matted with dust. she slows as she nears the creek. watching. waiting. calling. she stops. crouches. & then he appears. tiny hand reaches for hers. she slips a turnip into it. he blinks content. she smiles and sits beside him. he climbs upon her lap. his ringed tail curling behind her back. his masked face looking up @ her freckled cheeks. the steam rises around them. thier hearts tie & they stay. the steam glows green. then blue. the bridge appears. she stands. holding the raccoon. slowly she tiptoes across the bridge. & down the path. what will it give them today? they stop & look over the valley. & then down to the left. the small creature points his tiny hand. she follows his gaze & there. amidst the ombré of winter & spring. where the creek begins to flow. the glows of a tent. a host of creatures. they start down the path. down the stone steps. across more fairy bridges. & they follow the purple glow & the smell of fun.
